ABILENE, TX – Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. Police Dispatch received a call of an injured subject suffering from a gunshot wound at an adult football game. The shooting occurred at the Lee Sports Complex after adults had just finished playing a semi-pro football game. When police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. There was a young male in his 20’s who had suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper shoulder area. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene described the male suspect, his clothing, and the vehicle he fled in. Officers put out an attempt to locate, and later that evening, Callahan County Sheriff Deputies and DPS Troopers stopped a 2020 Hyundai Elantra matching the description. 66-year-old Wayne Morris Brown of the Metroplex was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
