ABILENE, TX – James Arthur Wells, 50 years of age, of Cameron Texas, was arrested for the crash resulting in the death of Mark Rogers of Abilene on March 13. An arrest warrant for Intoxication Manslaughter was secured by the APD Traffic Division on April 23, 2021. Wells was arrested in Milam County by Deputies with the Milam County Sheriff’s Department. The Cameron Police Department also assisted with the arrest. Wells will be held there for charges unrelated to the Abilene case. He will eventually be transported to Taylor County to face the Manslaughter charge. His bond is set at $350,000. This investigation continues and more charges are possible.
“The effort our Traffic Division has put into this investigation is impressive. I want to thank our Traffic investigators, and more specifically, Traffic Investigator Tyson Kropp for helping secure this arrest. My hope is that the arrest will bring peace of mind to the Rogers family, and our community, that suspected irresponsible behavior has consequences.” – Marcus Dudley, Abilene Police Department Chief of Police.
“The District Attorney’s Office and the Abilene Police Department have worked side by side in the effort to bring justice for the Rogers family. We will work just as hard to secure a conviction” – Jim Hicks, Taylor County District Attorney.
