Are you a singer, poet, comedian, musician, or performer with the urge to entertain a captive audience? If so, we incite you to you join in on the South Branch Library’s new Open Mic Night series where you can share your talent with others. Space is limited to 11 performers per session and you must REGISTER ONLINE to reserve your place on stage.
Open Mic Nights are great for offering you a stage to showcase material you’re working on in a variety of formats. Our first session will be hosted on Thursday, January 23 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the South Branch Library’s Meeting Room, located in the Mall of Abilene. Regular sessions will continue to be hosted each month, on the third Thursday evenings, same time.
Each performer will be given a five-minute slot for their performance. There will be no limitations as to what genres and styles can or cannot be featured, but we will not provide additional time for setup outside of that five-minute window to ensure all performers receive their slot. Free creative expression is encouraged, but we do ask that you be mindful of the family-friendly atmosphere of the library. Let’s keep it as clean as possible.
All ages are welcome to signup for a time to perform because talent knows no limitations. Even if you don’t have that performer spirit, we encourage the community to come out and be a part of the audience to cheer on the talent.
So get that poetry ready, select your best song, get a lineup of your best jokes, and REGISTER ONLINE to perform at the library’s first Open Mic Night session. Walk-ins will also be allowed but only taken after registered performers as time allows.
Let’s make this new series a hit at your Abilene Public Library, as it just goes to show how libraries are much more than just books. It’s a celebration of the arts as well. There’s only a handful of places where you can visit to attend events like these, and we hope you make your local library your new venue when it comes to viewing live entertainment.
For more information about the Open Mic Night session, feel free to contact Marnie Boyers at 325-698-7565. We hope to see you perform soon, and if not performing, be sure to come out and be a part of the audience to cheer our talent on.
