    Kids and parents are invited to join your South Branch Library for a great mid-morning movie. This time we’re watching 2016’s “Zootopia” with the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba. In this film, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. This film is rated PG for some thematic elements, rude humor, and action, and has a run time of 1 hour and 48 minutes. Feel free to bring your own outside food and drinks to the event to enjoy.

  2. ABCD's of Medicare

    If it’s time for you to sign-up for Medicare, and you don’t know where to begin, be sure to register and attend a free Medicare Class at your Abilene Public Library. Multiple sessions will be hosted each month and led by specialist Breanna Maichel. Each session will run up to 1-hour long and designed with the goal of providing seniors with the tools needed to be able to make the right decisions going into Medicare. From understanding the parts of Medicare to prescription drug plans, learning how to enroll to reviewing health plans, you’ll be sure to get all the answers you need.     Catch a great movie during the South Branch Library’s Saturday Matinee event where we play great hits. At this session we’ll be showing 1993’s “Jurassic Park” starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, in the Steven Spielberg classic that was based on the popular novel by Micahel Crichton. In this film, scientific technology has enabled a mogul to create an island full of living dinosaurs. He’s invited four people, along with his two grandchildren, to join him in a tour of Jurassic Park. But will everything go according to plan? This film is rated PG-13 for intense science fiction terror and has a run time of 2 hours and 7 minutes. Feel free to bring your own outside food and drinks to the program to enjoy during the movie.
